Now now. Be nice. Kittens! He needs kittens!

I think Sycamore Slough has a really nice sound. Thanks for posting that. And hey, if LSD convinced Gans that he had talent and a singing voice, that's sure a better outcome than if it had convinced him that his mission in life was to be an internet troll. That really would be a bummer, wouldn't it?

For sure. Saw Dave at the Dolores River Brewery in CO a year ago in April. Though I first heard him through the Dead Hour more than a few years back (circa '89-90), I was completely unfamiliar with his music/show beforehand. Had a great time - exactly what the doctor ordered. Way enjoyed both his originals and the covers, both Dead and otherwise.

Hell - he wrote "Like a Dog" (lyrics by Hunter) - truly a kick-ass song. "Shove in the Right Direction" spoke right to me at that time.

Anybody who straps on a guitar (or any instrument) and plays to an audience and entertains them has my gratitude and respect.

Finally - that David was a part of "Oregon Trail Mix" (a KLCC fundraiser, that includes Ken Nordine and others, broadcast live by Healy during 8/21/93 in Eugene) completely seals the deal with me: first track on http://archive.org/details/gd1993-08-21.fm.albright.87555.flac16).

And thinking back to those two days, and the trip out to the coast afterwards, Good Gawd Almighty, Eugene '93 was fantastic in every freaking way.

Hah, nice kitten video. At around the 50 sec mark, is exactly how my dogs play with each other. By the way, does that stray dog still come around your place?

I agree that Gans doesn't have a very good voice, but sometimes it can work, and I like the instrumental parts from Syc Slough String Band. Nice relaxed vibe, like they're just jammin' out around a campfire or something. Plus, the fiddle player looks like a pirate. Or maybe Jesus.

His voice is a bit like Phil's, eh?

I guess I like the unadorned naturalness. He's not Pavarotti, or Young Jerry, but he seems to be just being himself. It works. And the instrumentals are really nice.

Yes, the dog hangs out here all the time, and is now Very Best Friends with my dog who used to be scared of her! I should post pics sometime.

Aww, yes please post some pics sometime. I have to get some more recent pics of Lucy (my Labradoodle), now that she's all grown up as well.

More pics and video on the way. I'll make an updated animal pics thread. Hopefully some new critters will pop up on the thread from other members as well. I'll try to get to it this weekend. In reality, I probably won't get to it until Mon. morning though.

You think brokenarrows isn't really another poster? Look at his posts thus far.

Is "brokenarrows" a multi-poster? Are you? Am I/ DOes it really matter? Neither "brokenarrows" posts, nor yours, nor mine for that matter are but a small ripple in the pond. And we all know that ripples dissipate, are no more and are soon forgotten.

Daddy D, you and your lovely bride are just Cornmeal kinda folk(that's if you are who I think you are). Not that it is in any way a bad thing. Interested to see how they grow in light of the recent departures.

Evidently I'm not who you think I am, as I'm not married & am not very familiar with Cornmeal.

I mean, I'm aware that they are a bluegrass band & I'm sure I've heard a few of their songs on archive or youtube, but I've never seen them play live & don't know any of their songs. Heard good things about them though...

Sorry. It is obviously just a senility induced case of mistaken identity.
